The fluctuations in fuel prices are influenced by fluctuations in global oil prices and the rupiah exchange rate. Adjustments are regulated in the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022, which establishes the base price formula for general fuels, such as gasoline and diesel. Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Roberth Verieza Dumatubun explained that subsidized fuel prices remain unchanged because they adhere to government policy until the end of 2026. Meanwhile, non-subsidized prices are determined based on the company's evaluation results, which remain unchanged to date.
Prices are holding steady, but that doesn't mean the pressure has eased.
The decision to hold prices this October was made despite global crude oil prices remaining high. Pertamina stated that the considerations included public purchasing power and a number of other factors, not because procurement costs had fallen.
